Women’s Health and Safety in India

English: Women in Raisen district, M.P., India...

There is a lot of hue and cry on the health and safety of Women in the World and in India. Millions of dollars are spent annually on Women’s health issues leaving ‘Male Health’ and male specific issues at bay. The populace that should be worried about health and safety should be the men folk. The data suggests that the women in India are well cared for, have least crime rates against them, as compared to their male counterparts and as compared to other developed nations.

The life expectancy of females is more than the male counterparts. The major reason for this is that they are well cared for. Please understand, that it is very difficult for me to comprehend that how a successful society can be created and sustained for long durations of time if it treats it’s women folk poorly. Throughout history, women have been cared for, kept secured and in my understanding treated well (till date women are secured from dangerous jobs like mining etc…)

As per WHO, the number of non-natural deaths in the South East Asian Countries (India is a part of this group) is given below. In all the indicators Females fare better than their Male counterparts.

As we can see above in all cases the males are at a higher risk of death due to diseases, wars, violence and injuries.

Coming to the rape statistic, the incidences of rapes in India are far lesser than the developed countries of the World.

Developed countries like US, UK and Sweeden have about 29, 29, and 64 rapes per 100,000 population as compared to India at about 2.

So is it correct to state that women in India are atleast 15 times more safer than women in developed countries?

Now coming to violent crimes in India; Majority (more than 70%) of the crime is committed against the male gender. The data talks for itself:

Year: 2011

The male suicides have gone up in India considerably over the past 15 years, from about 52K in the year 1995 to about 88K in 2011 (ie a 67% growth).

If you refer to the data above the rates of suicides have shot up after the DV Act being passed in the mid 2000s, ie. the harassed husbands have no-where to go.

Still, India is up against arms for gender specific laws, till date there is no ministry or government body that focuses on male specific issues / rights whereas, there is even a Animal Welfare Board in India. Are we worse than animals? We protect out boundaries, pay majority of the taxes, have the longest workings hours so that our families enjoy in peace. All that we require are gender neutral laws and an effective judiciary.

It is time to wake up to this misandry by the Feminazis, and stand up for what is right. Martin Niemöller has excellently summed up in his quote below.

When the Nazis came for the communists,

I remained silent; I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,

I remained silent; I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,

I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,

I remained silent; I wasn’t a Jew.

When they came for me,

there was no one left to speak out.

I didn’t like this post. Agreed we have a lot of miles to go before we reach equality for the genders and there are helpless men who are harassed but then statistics is no way any answer to comparing and glorifying India.

Did it cross your mind perhaps that the reasons the statistics are stacked in India’s favor is because cases of harassment are NOT reported? Or that women are blackmailed into letting the culprit go?

Agreed that developed nations have a worse crime rate given to understand their population but if you compare ground realities, it is the same everywhere, women and men both are ill-treated. But you cannot deny that women have a worse hand dealt here since most of the abuse is by pompous family members who know the woman cannot do anything against them!

And did you consider the reasons for men’s suicides? That it may be because of job pressures and money whereas women suicides could be because of mental harassment or dowry? And that women died from burns from in-laws harassment or because of poor hygiene or horrific rapes? I don’t discount the pedophiles who commit crimes against little boys but assuming blatantly that India is better off from the rest of the world, is delusional. The world over, this problem is the same. A crime is a crime and no statistic is going to change that or glorify a country.

I suggest some introspection on this topic.

    • Thanks NM for your comment.

Please refer to the NCRB statistics which shows the data of frivolous cases. Hence, making a sweeping statement (without any backup data) that cases go unreported is incorrect.

But you cannot deny that women have a worse hand dealt here since most of the abuse is by pompous family members who know the woman cannot do anything against them!

Again no data to support the above statement. Please refer to the link given above where misuse of gender biased laws will be evident.

And did you consider the reasons for men’s suicides? That it may be because of job pressures and money whereas women suicides could be because of mental harassment or dowry? And that women died from burns from in-laws harassment or because of poor hygiene or horrific rapes?

Please refer to the suicide stats here and here which provides indepth analysis for suicides. Majority of male suicides are due to ‘family problems’, therefore your interpretation that male suicides are due to job pressure / money is incorrect.

This post is supposed to be an eye opener so that generalized and sweeping statements which have no validity may be countered.

Feminists never accept the truth. Feminists laugh at men for their suffering and spreading false statistics and blame them for everything. There are many cases due to which men commit suicide because of domestic violence and false cases against him. In recent time many suicide because of false rape charges against him. All over the world it is accepted, there is d.v on man and also about 30-40 % of D.V cases, women are perpetuating the D.V.

How come the feminists want equal rights but not equal responsibility?
There is not one protest to make even adultery laws gender neutral! IPC 497 clearly states that a woman cannot be prosecuted for adultery! Not even as an abettor!

So, according to latest laws (IrBM) gives a woman (wife) a free share in her husband’s and his ancestral property in divorce. She can freely commit adultery and if her husband sues for divorce, he will dearly pay for it by losing his property! Why no protest against such a law?

      —Moderated

    • It is not like say twenty or odd years ago when 498a and subsequently DV act was promulgated. Then all men were supporting even such draconian laws because they were thinking that ‘a woman could do no wrong’. Now, what is the status…? These laws have been systematically abused by middle class and above women and the conditions of those grovelling in false 498 cases are pitiable to say the least. Now, all such abuse are documented and statistically studied. Now, the abuse is well entrenched all over the country. Now people have understood the hidden agenda behind such ‘law making’ or ‘lie making’. People have seen through feminists and mysiandric intentions.

I still stand by my opinion. Nevertheless, it made interesting reading.

  5. NM says:

I do believe though that Statistics cannot belittle a crime whose nature stays as it is. I do believe Statistics can present a tainted picture.

    • NM,

Nobody is trying to belittle any crime. The blog is trying to show people the true picture, which has its roots in hard data and not in beliefs and hollow ideologies.

The path can be shown towards the light but walking the path is purely on the reader.
